National Picnic Week | Yorkshire Holiday Parks favourites

It’s National Picnic Week this week – so we thought we’d share some great places near our sites to have a picnic! Of course you are more than welcome to have a picnic in the grounds of the holiday parks…sitting by the water at Weir Holiday Park is a beautifully relaxing location on a summer’s day.

If you are staying at Allerton Holiday Park, near Knaresborough then setting off for a day out in the Yorkshire Dales is one of our favourite pastimes. Calling in at Bolton Abbey and enjoying a picnic on the shores of the River Strid is lovely for all the family. If you don’t fancy travelling that far, then a visit to Harrogate and picnicing on The Stray would put you right at the heart of this beautiful town. A visit to Fodder, located on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate is a must for picnic delights – fresh local produce a-plenty.

Those of you who are at Weir Holiday Park, near Stamford Bridge, could venture to Castle Howard and enjoy your picnic near the Great Lake, or visit the seaside for that authentic sand in your sandwiches picnic. It’s a 40 minute drive to Bridlington or Flamborough Head – and between them you’ll find some beautiful tranquil beaches on which to enjoy your picnic. Picnic food locally is best sourced from The Balloon Tree, just down the road from us in Stamford Bridge. Whilst you’re there, why not pick some of your own strawberries to take with you!
