Another Great Year at Weir Holiday Park

We’ve had another great year at Weir Holiday Park. It didn’t have the best of starts with the floods in the New Year – but really these things have to be viewed as an opportunity – or so we think.

An opportunity to have a good old think about the landscaping round the park – our Gardener, Geoff, and his team once again bounced back into action and the flower beds have been truly stunning this year. So much so, we were awarded a Yorkshire In Bloom award.

An opportunity to consider how we encourage wildlife into the Park, particularly the humble bumble bee which is suffering from declining numbers – again Geoff and his team came up trumps with beds and borders planted with flowers that bees just love – and earning us recognition as a Bee Friendly Park.

It also provided an opportunity to work with the environment – once again winning Weir Holiday Park a Gold Award in the David Bellamy Conservation Awards; and to set the park up in such a way that it is now as flood-resilient as possible.

This year we were also shortlisted for the prestigious White Rose Awards – Welcome to Yorkshire’s equivalent of the Oscars; and whilst we didn’t win, it is nice to have all our hard work acknowledged by the tourism authority.

Mainly though it’s been a great year because of you, our guests! It’s brilliant to see so many familiar faces, and a few new ones, throughout the year. You’ve contributed to all our award wins and nominations by looking after your pitches, leaving lovely comments and recommending Weir Holiday Park to your friends and family.

We’re closed now until March 2017 – that doesn’t mean we’re not working on making next year great though!
